Biography

Sylvain Pasini received his first degree in Electronics from the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (Geneva) in 2001, more precisely from the "Ecole d'Ingénieurs de Genève" (EIG), which was recently renamed under HEPIA.

Secondly, he received his Master's degree in Communication Systems from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) in 2005.

Thirdly, he was teaching and research assistant in the Security and Cryptography Laboratory (LASEC) at EPFL. At the same time he did a Ph.D. thesis in cryptography under the supervision of Professor Serge Vaudenay. His research focused on message authentication protocols. He also worked on the electronic passport and on keyboard attacks.

From May 2009 to July 2011, Sylvain was working as cryptography expert and security architect for Nagravision (Kudelski Group), world leader in digital pay-TV industry.

Since August 2011, Sylvain is Professor at the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (Vaud), more precisely at the HEIG-VD. His main activites are applied research and teaching, both in computer security.
